As a team captain, you play a vital role in leading both on and off the field. This page is designed to give you the tools, guidance, and resources you need to support your team, communicate effectively, and help create the best possible experience for every player.
Fall 2026
As captains, you are the backbone of each team and are expected to:
- Communicate game-day logistics to your team.
- Manage match day player rsvps, find subs when needed, and make sure you can field an 11v11 team each week.
- Arrive early to games, check in with the referee.
- Confirm that rosters and subs comply with league rules.
- Handle coin tosses, lineups, and substitutions fairly.
- Submit a match report each week.
- Serve as point of contact to the league.
Manage your team, view schedules and print or download rosters. The Team Pass app is an easy and convenient way to track player rsvps.
To print your team roster, log into Team Pass. On the right side of your team page, you'll see a small icon and "Printable Roster" link. Click that link, and another window will open. From that window you may print the roster, download or save it as a pdf.
Bring a printed or a digital roster to each match. Present the printed roster, or a .pdf of your roster on your phone to the center referee and the opposing team captain.
Let the opposing team captain know if you have any subs, and identify them.
The team captain is required to fill out a Captain’s Match Report for their team after each and every game.
• The captain must submit the report within 48 hours of the game.
• If a team has multiple captains, prior to season start, one captain shall be designated as the person to submit the weekly match report on behalf of the team.
• If the reporting captain is absent, the acting captain must pass along details so the report can be completed as soon as possible.
Scores are posted in Team Pass (usually) on the Monday following the game, after referees submit their match reports in Arbiter, and the captains' match reports are reviewed.
Be sure to check the scores and standings in Team Pass each week. Please report any scoring inconsistencies or errors within 10 days of the match date being posted to Team Pass. After 10 days, the published score, as reported, will stand.
Need a goalie sub? Reach out to keepers directly through our goalie pool. Goal keepers age 25+ (26 by Dec 31st) may play in either age division.
One of the major benefits of being affiliated with NCASA/USASA is that players have access to up to $5,000 in supplemental insurance. Supplemental insurance is secondary coverage to help fill gaps in primary insurance.
If an injury occurs:
-Inform the league immediately. WWSL will provide the official referee match report (with time of injury, player info and brief description of incident) to the player
-Player has 90 days from the date of injury to file
Get in touch with other captains.
Communicate directly with your fellow captains.
Encourage your players to join our WWSL Sub Player Group on WhatsApp. This makes it easy for captains to find subs each week.
• This group is for currently rostered WWSL players only.
• All subs must meet age/division eligibility requirements.

Prior to each season, all players should review the league EAP. Player safety is our top priority.
Captains should be prepared to respond to medical emergencies or other urgent situations during games. Always assess the scene, and call 911 if needed.
Please note that on your roster there is an emergency contact name and phone number for each player.

· WWSL follows Town of Apex Parks & Recreation weather cancellations.
Updates available Sundays: 12:00 pm
· WWSL will notify captains and players of any cancellations via email and Team Pass messaging.
· Referees have final authority to cancel games at the field.
· The league will do its best to reschedule cancelled games when possible.

IMPORTANT
· Please ensure ALL family/friends remain along the fence line of the fields.
· Please ensure trash is picked up after games and leave facilities clean.
• Players on each team shall wear matching, numbered shirts or jerseys.
• Substitute players shall also wear a numbered jersey matching the jersey color of the team.
• Numbers should be a minimum of 6 inches in height and visible on the back of the shirts.
• When jersey color conflicts, home team is responsible to change jerseys
• Shin guards are required.
• No jewelry
Teams may choose to purchase jerseys from any vendor. The vendors listed below have been used and recommended by various teams.
